Rohan Jaitley is reportedly the frontrunner to replace Jay Shah as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, if and when the latter decides to file nominations for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman post.
According to a report by the Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar, Rohan, son of former politician and Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Arun Jaitley, is the favourite among all the board members.
Other members of the BCCI executive council, which includes President Roger Binny, will continue in their positions to serve the full tenure which ends next year.

August 27 is the deadline to file nominations for the ICC Chairman’s post which was vacated after Greg Braclay refused to stand for a third term.
“ICC Chair Greg Barclay confirmed to the Board that he will not stand for a third term and will step down from the post when his current tenure finishes at the end of November. Barclay was appointed as the Independent ICC Chair in November 2020, before being re-elected in 2022,” an ICC release read.
Shah is already a Finance and Commercial Affairs (F&CA) sub-committee member. Before Shah, Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar are the Indians who have served as ICC Chairman with Manohar being the last. He was Chairman of ICC from November 2015 to June 2020.
If Shah files the nomination and gets nine out of the 16 votes in the election for the Chairman’s post, he will become the youngest ICC President at the age of 35.
