Kerala Cricket League (KCL) 2025 couldn’t have asked for a better start, as state opener Rohan Kunnummal smashed a 21-ball half-century in the clash against Aries Kollam Sailors, on August 21 (Thursday). The Kerala opener, playing for Calicut Globstars, took the attack to the 2024 KCL champions, Sailors.
Off just the second over of the innings, Kunnummal smashed Eden Apple Tom for a six towards the midwicket boundary to show his intentions. He didn’t stop there, smashing another boundary in the same over to accelerate the run-scoring.
Kunnummal then smashed Pavan Raj for a couple of boundaries to race to 35 off just 16 deliveries. The youngster didn’t spare Akhil M S either, with consecutive sixes in the over to get himself closer to another half-century, and the first of the tournament.
The opener got to his mark off in style, with a stunning hit over the cover region against the pacer Sharafuddeen. It was the fastest half-century in KCL history, as the 27-year-old put on a dazzling display in the opener.
