Rohit Sharma Confirms He Is Not Retiring After CT 2025 Win
Rohit said that this trophy is dedicated to the people of the country
Rohit Sharma, captain of the Indian team, confirmed that he is not going to retire from ODI cricket, saying that he is not going anywhere after the side’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 win on March 9 (Sunday) in Dubai.
He put an end to all his retirement rumours and almost reaffirmed that his hunger for the ODI World Cup as captain will continue to feed itself till the next edition in 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Rohit, in the post-match press conference of the CT 2025 Final, said, “Future plans will come in the future. For now, everything will continue as it is.”
“I’m not retiring, just to clear the air!” he added further.
Rohit, for whom this is now the second ICC trophy in a row after India won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, said that this trophy is dedicated to the people of the country.
“[This One is] dedicated to the country. They all want us to win. This is for them,” Rohit said on being asked who gets the credit for the tournament win.
The 37-year-old Indian captain scored 76 off 83 balls and gave the team a great platform to chase the target of 252 against New Zealand. With the Champions Trophy and T20 World Cup by his side, the ODI World Cup and World Test Championship (WTC) remain the only two ICC trophies that he doesn’t have in his cabinet as captain.
