Rohit Sharma has been in excellent form in the T20 World Cup 2024. Opening the batting for India in all games, he has smashed 248 runs at a strike rate of 155.97. He has been lauded not just for his batting but also for the way he has led the side in the tournament. Former England captain Nasser Hussain believes that Rohit has a very calming influence on his team.
"I have been a fan of Rohit for a very long time, as a batter, as a captain, and as a person. He seems to have a very calming influence," Hussain said in a video posted by ICC.
"Whereas you had other captains, maybe like Virat [Kohli], who wore their heart on their sleeves, and they are incredibly passionate. Rohit is like that iron fist in a velvet glove. You do not mess around with Rohit, but he is also a big brother who will put his arm around you and look after you."
While Kohli has been out of form in the World Cup, Rohit has been key for India as he has, more often than not, gotten them off to a flying start. He will hope that is the case once again as India take on South Africa in the final on June 29 (Saturday) in Barbados, where rain is expected to play a bit of a spoilsport.
Rohit goes into the final in excellent form following impressive performances against Australia in the group stage, where he slammed 92 off just 41 deliveries. He also brushed England aside in the semi-final, where he scored a 39-ball 57 to set up India's 68-run victory.
