Madhya Pradesh mystery spinner, Shivam Shukla, has struck gold as he's been selected as replacement for Rovman Powell by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for their remaining one game of 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Powell didn’t return to India after the tournament restarted on May 17.
Notably, KKR have already been eliminated from the race for playoffs after their game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy was rained out and the match got abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Shukla, who’s 29, recently made his T20 debut for MP in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), where he picked eight wickets in eight games at a very good economy of just 6.30. His best figures came against Bengal, when he picked 4/29 in Rajkot.
The Knight Riders will play their last game of the season on Sunday, May 25 in Delhi. Yesterday, after their game got abandoned, they became the fourth team to get eliminated after Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
