RP Singh, Pragya Ojha Inducted In Men’s Selection Committee, Amita Sharma Leads Women’s Selection
The tenure of Women’s selection committee chief Neetu David had ended, after which Sharma was announced as her successor
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced many key decisions after the 94th Annual General Meeting (AGM) concluded on September 28 (Sunday) in Mumbai.
Apart from Mithun Manhas becoming BCCI President and Jayesh George being made the Women’s Premier League chairman, the biggest news from the AGM is that former Indian cricketers Rudra Pratap Singh and Pragyan Ojha have been inducted into the Men’s Selection Committee to occupy the vacant positions. Both have been Indian cricketers of note with a distinguished international career. Singh was also a member of the 2007 T20 World Cup-winning Indian team.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Selection Committee was announced after the last one, led by Neetu David, who had completed her tenure. Amita Sharma, who has played 5 women’s Tests and 116 ODIs, has been selected as David’s successor to the chair of the selection committee. Her former teammate, Jaya Sharma, is also part of the selection committee along with Shyama Dey, Sulakshana Naik and Sravanthi Naidu. The committee’s main job will begin after the Women’s ODI World Cup is completed in India.
Apart from this, the Junior Cricket Committee was also announced by the BCC, which will be headed by S Sharath, and includes Harvinder Sodhi, Pathik Patel, Krishna Mohan and Ranadeb Bose. Meanwhile, Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley has been made the chairperson of BCCI’s infrastructure committee.
