RR pacer Chetan Sakariya loses father to COVID-19

Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Chetan Sakariya's father Kanjibhai passed away due to COVID-19 on Sunday. He was admitted in a hospital in Bhavnagar, Gujarat last week after testing positive for the virus.

Sakariya, who was selected by RR for ₹1.2 crore in the Indian Premier League 2021 players' auction, revealed that he had immediately transferred his IPL salary to his family for his father's treatment.

"I was lucky because I had received my part payment from Rajasthan Royals a few days ago. I straight away transferred money back home, and that is helping my family the most in my toughest time,” the 22-year old told The Indian Express on Friday.

Sakariya was among the best performers for RR in the now-suspended IPL 2021, picking up 7 wickets in as many games.
