A 19-year-old Lhuan-dre Pretorius became the first Proteas debutant in nine years, and the youngest-ever to score a century on Test debut, smashing a stroke-filled hundred against Zimbabwe, on June 28 (Saturday).
The left-hander, who was batting out of position, made an immediate impact in the Proteas whites, smashing seven fours and two sixes en route to his maiden Test century. Pretorius walked in with the Proteas at a precarious position on 23/3, and stitched up a mini-partnership with Wiaan Mulder.
But it was during his partnership with Dewald Brevis that the left-hander brought the house down. The two combined for a 95-run partnership off just 88 balls. While Brevis walked back after scoring a 41-ball 51, Pretorius continued his onslaught, becoming the seventh South African batter to score a century on Test debut.
