RR set to offer Jos Buttler a landmark four-year deal: Reports
The deal is expected to be worth millions of pounds every year, but nothing is formal yet
The landscape of franchise leagues around the world is set to explode, with reports of Rajasthan Royals offering a landmark four-year deal for Jos Buttler. According to reports from the Telegraph, the Royals’ franchise are set to tie the explosive English batter down to a long-term deal, which would then allow them to retain him on board across competitions.
However, the deal isn’t yet formal and on the table, and it isn’t confirmed either if Buttler will take the deal. Buttler has been part of the Rajasthan Royals’ setup since the 2018 Indian Premier League, and the new deal could see him earn millions of pounds each year.
In the 71 matches that he has represented the Royals in the IPL, he’s scored five centuries and 18 fifties, including scoring four in a single edition of the tournament in 2022. The right-handed batter has also been part of the Paarl Royals setup.
Earlier in the year, there were reports that fellow IPL franchise Mumbai Indians also wanted to tie down Jofra Archer to a long-term deal, which would see him play for the franchise across tournaments. The reports added that England are looking at ways where they could have some sort of control over their players, especially with how franchise cricket is gaining control over the sport.
The first sign of that was visible when Jason Roy opted to give up on his national contract for an opportunity to play in the Major League Cricket, where he represents LA Knight Riders.
