Ruturaj Gaikwad Opts Out Of Yorkshire County Stint Due To Personal Reasons

Gaikwad was set to make his Yorkshire debut against Surrey on July 22, and then also play the Domestic One-Day Cup

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad will no longer remain with Yorkshire for County Championship 2025 and the Domestic One-Day Cup, as he pulled out due to personal reasons.

Gaikwad was set to make his Yorkshire debut against Surrey on July 22, and then also play the Domestic One-Day Cup starting from August 5th. However, Yorkshire have confirmed that the 28-year-old has withdrawn due to personal reasons.

“The Yorkshire County Cricket Club can confirm that Ruturaj Gaikwad will no longer be joining the Club for the 2025 season due to personal reasons,” the club said in a statement.

Head coach Anthony McGrath hoped that everything was ‘okay’ at Gaikwad’s end.

“Unfortunately Gaikwad’s not coming now for personal reasons,” said McGrath.

“We’re not going to have him for Scarborough or for the rest of the season. So that’s disappointing. I can’t tell you anything about the reasons why, but we hope that everything’s ok.”

Gaikwad has not played any professional cricket since April. He was ruled out of IPL 2025 midway after sustaining an elbow injury.
