The Mumbai Indians, sitting at fourth position in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 points table at the time of the suspension of the league, are one of the top-contenders to make it to the playoffs of the league.
However, even if they make it to the playoffs, they might miss their important players owing to several other international commitments and the extension of the IPL 2025 from its original schedule.
Mumbai will miss the South African duo of Corbin Bosch and Ryan Rickelton, as well as English all-rounder Will Jacks should they make it to the playoffs.
While Rickelton and Bosch have been named in South Africa’s squad for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final squad to face Australia, Jacks has been named in England’s squad for the home series against West Indies.
Though the WTC Final will begin from June 11 onwards, South Africa are slated to play a practice four-day game against Zimbabwe in England, starting June 3, which is also the date for the IPL final.

The changes in MI playing 11 could be Naman Dhir moving up the order to occupy Ryan Rickelton’s opening slot while New Zealand's John Bevon Jacobs sliding into the playing 11 to make his debut as batting all-rounder in place of Will Jacks. Mitchell Santner will take Corbin Bosch’s place and make it a balanced side with his left-arm spin option.
The place left in the middle by Dhir will most likely be occupied by wicketkeeper KL Shrijith as MI need someone who can don the gloves as well.
