SA Captain Temba Bavuma To Feature in India ‘A’ Clash As Tune-Up for India Test Series

The unofficial Test series between India ‘A’ and South Africa ‘A’ next month will be more than just a ‘shadow tour’ as the Proteas have confirmed that Test skipper Temba Bavuma will be playing the second unofficial Test in Bengaluru. 

Bavuma, who led South Africa to the World Test Championship (WTC) title earlier this year, is currently sitting out South Africa’s two-Test series against Pakistan due to a calf strain. Thus the appearance in the India ‘A’ series will serve as both a comeback from injury and also preparation for the two-Test series, starting November 14. 

The unofficial two-Test series will also feature a bunch of capped players, including off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen and fast bowler Codi Yusuf. Batter Zubayr Hamza, who has played 8 Tests for the Proteas, has also been named in the squad. 

The two-match unofficial Test series will be followed by three unofficial ODIs in Rajkot, and the South Africa ‘A’ series for the unofficial ODIs features some big names as well, including highly-rated youngsters Kwena Maphaka and Lhuan-dre Pretorius. 

The shadow tour, which begins with the unofficial Test series, will start from October 30 in Bengaluru.
