WATCH: Rabada Gets Sweet Revenge, Rattles Zadran's Middle Stump After Being Hit For Six
This was the second-fastest delivery in Champions Trophy HISTORY to fetch a wicket
Kagiso Rabada has always loved picking in-game battles, and in today's contest against Afghanistan, he zeroed in on opener Ibrahim Zadran as his target.
It was only in the 8th over of the chase that Rabada was introduced and after four dots, the right-hander took a single and went to the non-strikers’ end.
The battle resumed again two overs later, and, on this occasion, Rabada started the over with an absolute pearler, beating Zadran on the inside edge. It was one of the balls of the day; Rabada was unlucky not to get his man.
There was another swing and a miss on the very next ball, but Zadran made a statement on the third ball of the over, smoking a stunning six straight down the ground. Rabada overpitched and Zadran pounced, lofting the right-armer over long-on in delightful fashion.
The battle between the two was really starting to heat up at this point, but that’s when Rabada decided to end it once and for all.
On the very next ball of the over, seconds after getting hit for six, the South Africa talisman produced the perfect comeback and dished out sweet, sweet revenge.
Zadran tried to give himself some room and play the ball through the off-side, but Rabada pulled his length back slightly and ramped up the pace. The result was that Zadran’s stumps got ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED.
It was a sight for sore eyes. Rabada even gave the batter a cheeky little verbal send-off.
Shaun Pollock later said on air that it was the second-fastest delivery in Champions Trophy HISTORY to fetch a wicket. It was clocked at 148.8 kph.
