The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold its annual awards on February 1 (Saturday) in Mumbai and will award men’s Test vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, women’s cricketer Smriti Mandhana and former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar the top honours.
While Tendulkar, who retired in 2013, will receive the Colonel CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award, Bumrah will get the Polly Umrigar Award for the best international cricketer for the 2023-24 season. Smriti Mandhana will be bestowed with the same honours in the women’s category.
Tendulkar will be the 31st recipient of the Col CK Nayudu Award. The former India batter played 463 ODIs and 200 Tests and scored a total of 34,357 runs.
Bumrah, who was earlier named ICC cricketer of the year for 2023-24, has had a terrific year in cricket, being named Player of the Series in both the T20 World Cup 2024 as well as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Mandhana, named ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2024, has also been in great form across all three formats, notching up hundreds each in Tests and ODIs. Ravichandran Ashwin, who retired from international cricket recently, will also be presented with a special award.
