Sachin Tendulkar Names His Favourite Century In International Cricket

The former India batter slammed 100 centuries across formats at the international level

Sachin Tendulkar has scored 100 international centuries in his career and has scored tons against every team across all conditions. However, there is one particular century he holds close to his heart, which is his first-ever ton.

His first century came against England in 1990, just three years after he debuted as a 16-year-old. Coming in at six, Tendulkar remained unbeaten on 119 and saved the Manchester Test for India. He also scored 68 in the first innings and walked away with the Player of the Match award as well.

"That is a tough one! [which of his international centuries stood out]. But I would say my first century in international cricket against England in 1990. I was just 17, and we were in a tough position. That innings gave me self-belief, made me feel that I belonged at the highest level," Tendulkar said on Backstage With with Boria.

Another special century he remembers is the double hundred he scored against South Africa in 2010 in Gwalior. He was the first-ever player to score a double ton in One-Day Internationals (ODI).

"Another special one was my double century in ODIs against South Africa in 2010 - becoming the first to reach that milestone was special," the 51-year-old said.

Tendulkar holds the record for the most runs in Tests (15,921) and ODIs (18,426), among numerous other records in international cricket.
