Sai Kishore Is The Best Spinner in IPL 2025: Parthiv Patel

The GT spinner has picked up 10 wickets in the tournament so far

Sai Kishore was once again on the money for Gujarat Titans (GT) as they registered a comprehensive 58-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Ahmedabad. Sai Kishore delivered with a couple of wickets and has taken his tally to 10 scalps in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and has already earned praises from the cricketing fraternity.

GT assistant coach Parthiv Patel was the latest to join the bandwagon, calling Sai Kishore the best spinner in the tournament so far.

"[Mohammed] Siraj is bowling well, and Prasidh Krishna has been phenomenal throughout the tournament. Sai Kishore is probably the best spinner so far in this tournament. The way he is bowling and how brave he is. Every game, you see a different bowler stepping up, and that's what bowlers win you the game," Parthiv said at the post-match press conference.

The 40-year-old also said that he is not surprised with Sai Sudharsan's performance in the tournament as he put in the hard yards ahead of the IPL. Sudharsan has scored 273 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 151.66, having hit three fifties already.

"I think, having seen him in the last month or so, he works really hard. I'm not surprised at all that he is getting these kinds of results. There were times when we had to drag him out of the nets," Parthiv said.

"He keeps it simple. In this era, it is easy to get carried away; you have to hit so many sixes, or you have to play at a certain strike rate. But he understands his game, and he backs that. That is why you see consistent performances from him."

The exclusion of Washington Sundar after his superb performance in the previous match was a bit of a surprise. H was neither part of the XI nor drafted in as an impact player in the second innings.

Parthiv said that Sundar was not part of the XI, as the team felt there was a need for an extra seamer.

"He wasn't part of our playing XI. We wanted to see the situation. We always have done that. In the last game, when two wickets fell early, he came in and batted. For our team, it is about knowing the situation and understanding the conditions. We felt we might need a fourth seamer in the second innings. Even if we had lost a couple of wickets early, then it would have been a different story. Here, we had enough batters who could do the job for us," Parthiv said.

"This is not the tournament to experiment. It’s a long tournament, yes, but we assess each game individually, whether we win or lose. We’re not looking at experimenting for the sake of it," he added.

With the win, GT went top of the IPL 2025 points table with eight points. They have won four games in a row and will be looking to make it five as they take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 12 (Saturday).
