Saini doubtful for crucial fixture against MI

The RCB pacer has a split webbing after he was struck on his thumb during the match against CSK

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Navdeep Saini, who split his webbing between his thumb and index finger during his team's match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday could miss the crucial match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday if he fails to recover. RCB physio Evan Speechly has revealed that he does not know how long Saini will take to recover.

"Saini has split his webbing in the last ball there. He obviously got hit on the thumb on the right hand. He has just split the webbing over there, fortunately, we had a good hand surgeon, he stitched up nicely. So we could just monitor over the night and check it after getting ready for the next game," said Speechly, according to ANI.

Speechly recalls a similar injury Virat Kohli suffered a few IPL seasons ago. However, the RCB skipper got that stitched immediately and went on to score a memorable hundred. However, Speechly does not want to get drawn into comparisons between the two injuries.

"Unfortunately you cannot compare the two injuries. Some people can manage it and some can't. It’s also because Saini's injury is on his bowling hand so it puts a lot of pressure on him so I cannot be sure when he will be good to go, I am hoping that he will be good to play in the next game and the rest of the tournament," Speechly further said.

RCB clash against MI in their next match at Abu Dhabi knowing that a win against the defending champions will be good enough to confirm them of a place in the playoff.
