Sam Konstas Smashes 82-ball Century In His 2nd List A Game

The 19-year-old brought up his maiden List A ton with a thumping six over point

Sam Konstas’ stocks continue to skyrocket as the teenager, on February 13 (Thursday) in the clash between New South Wales and Queensland, smashed his maiden List A ton in just his second appearance in 50-over cricket. Konstas brought up his ton off 82 balls and eventually finished on 116 off 98 balls.

The 19-year-old brought up his maiden List A ton with a thumping six over point.

On the day, it was a one-man effort from Konstas. Chasing 311 in a rain-curtailed 45-over clash, Konstas (116) was the only New South Wales batter to cross 35. He stuck around and hammered the runs despite wickets falling around him, and eventually was the ninth wicket to fall as he perished trying to slog Gurinder Sandhu.

Konstas, who shot to the limelight just over a month back for his stunning Test debut against India on Boxing Day, has now made a mark in all three formats of the game. At the start of this domestic season, he became the youngest Australian this century to score twin tons in a Sheffield Shield fixture.

A few weeks later, the right-hander smashed the fastest fifty by a Sydney Thunder player in Big Bash League (BBL) history. And now the teenager has smashed a 50-over ton in just his second List-A game.
