Sandeep Lamichhane picked as Nepal name squad for Asian Games

Rohit Paudel is set to lead the strong side in the quest for a rare gold medal in cricket at the Asian games

21-year-old Rohit Paudel will continue leading the Nepal side in their quest to win a first Gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou later next month. Alongside that, Nepal have also picked leg-spinning all-rounder Sandeep Lamichhane in their setup for the upcoming Asian Games.

Wicketkeeper batter Aasif Sheikh, Kushal Bhurtel and Dipendra Singh Airee form the core of Nepal’s top-order. Kushal Malla and Binod Bhandari will also strengthen the batting department, with Bhandari being the backup wicketkeeper.

On the bowling front, Karan KC is all set to lead the pace attack, alongside Sompal Kami, Gulshan Jha, Abinash Bohara and Bibek Yadav. Pratis GC has also been called up in the squad. Lalit Rajbanshi will bolster the spin unit, with Lamichhane spearheading the slow-bowling unit.

Asian Games will get underway on September 23, and Nepal will have to fight alongside Bangladesh and India for that gold medal.
