Sanju Samson fined for slow over-rate following RR's win over PBKS

As it was the team's first offence of the season the RR captain was fined Rs 12 lakh

Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson has been fined INR 12 lakh after his side maintained a slow over-rate during his side's two-run win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday (September 21) in Match 32 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

The Royals pulled off a heist after defending eight from the final two overs and four off the last one which gave RR their fourth win of the season, and reduced PBKS to their sixth loss. Chasing 186, PBKS seemed to be well on course, but the RR bowlers bowled extremely well in the depth to pull things back.

"Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League 2021 match against Punjab Kings at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai on September 21," the IPL said in a statement.

"As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Samson was fined Rs 12 lakh," the statement added.

RR will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in their next game in Abu Dhabi on Saturday (September 25).
