Sanju Samson hints at changes after loss against Delhi
NEWSIn the wake of the defeat against DC, RR’s skipper Sanju Samson hinted at multiple changes for the franchise
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Rajasthan’s bowling in the powerplay surely kept their skipper Sanju Samson happy. The Royals restricted the Capitals to just 21/2 after the first four overs, sending the in-form openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan back to the hut. However, not only did Delhi recover from the position but also managed to post an above-par total of 154 on the board after the first innings.
With no Evin Lewis, the responsibility was on the shoulders of Liam Livingstone and Yashasvi Jaiswal to provide the electric start for the Royals. However, Royals found themselves trembling at 17/3, ending with just 28 runs in the powerplay. While Sanju Samson ended unbeaten on 70 off 53, the lack of contribution from the others resulted in a 33-run defeat for the Royals.
“A target of 155 with the quality of batsmen we have, I thought it was chaseable. We had the batting to go after it. I think we will come back stronger in the next game,” Samson admitted in the post-match presentation.
Samson also hinted at multiple changes for the franchise for their next encounter, against Sunrisers Hyderabad as they chase a place in the play-offs. The Royals skipper also added that the plot was lost in the first half of the run-chase, where they lost a wicket too many.
“We might consider changes for the next game, but it is too early now. The emotions are on the higher side, we'll think about it tomorrow morning. The pitch was not that slow. It was holding up, but if we had a few wickets in hand we could have got the over the line.”
