Sanju Samson out of 1st ODI due to ligament injury

Keeper batsman Sanju Samson has been sidelined for 1st ODI against Sri Lanka due to a knee injury

India's keeper batsman Sanju Samson's participation in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka is in doubt after he sustained a knee ligament injury during a training session. The injury has kept him out of the 1st ODI at Colombo on Sunday.

Jharkhand and Mumbai Indians left-hander Ishan Kishan has been handed his ODI debut while Samson's injury is being monitored by the medical team.

"Sanju Samson sprained a ligament in his knee and was hence not available for selection for this game. The medical team is tracking his progress at the moment," BCCI's media team informed.

India, led by Shikhar Dhawan, will play three ODIs and three T20Is at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo from July 18-29.
