NEWSThe Match No. 27 of the Big Bash League 2021-22 between Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars at the Marvel Stadium has been postponed after a member of the Stars' support staff tested positive for Covid-19.
All Stars players and staff who had been in contact with the patient had to undertake PCR tests but the results have not been received yet. Cricket Australia said a new date for the game will be revealed as soon as possible.
"While regrettable, the decision to postpone tonight’s match was the only option available given the exposures within the Stars cohort. The league has a number of biosecurity protocols in place to keep our participants safe and the competition moving forward," Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia’s General Manager of Big Bash Leagues, said.
"These protocols are regularly reviewed in response to the risks in each state. Safety remains our number one priority and we will work with the Stars to get their side back on the field as soon as possible."
The Scorchers have won six of their seven encounters and are currently placed at No. 2, while the Stars are placed at No. 6, having won three and lost three.
