India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has hailed the way Dinesh Karthik has made a comeback into the Indian team. Karthik hit his maiden T20 International (T20I) fifty in the fourth match of the series against South Africa to help his side to a victory.
"I need to tell you this, genuinely I want to tell you this, you have given a lot of inspiration to many guys in their life.
"I remember the conversation you were having when you were not in the scheme of things, a lot of people counted you out," Hardik told Karthik during a chat after the game.
Karthik came in when India were 81 for 4 and struggling to get any sort of momentum. He then smashed 55 off 27, which included nine fours and a couple of sixes, stitching a 65-run stand for the fifth wicket with Hardik to resurrect the innings.
"I remember those conversations. You told me then that my goal is to play for India again and the goal is to play this World Cup, I am going to give it my everything, and seeing you achieve that is very inspirational.
"A lot of people are going to learn new things. Well done my brother, very proud of you," Hardik added.
India and South Africa will face off in the series decider on Sunday (June 19) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
