With Ravindra Jadeja not recovering as quick as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expected, the board has named the talented Bengal all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed as his replacement. Ahmed made his India debut earlier in the year, against South Africa where he picked up three wickets, averaging 28.66.
On the other hand, the board announced the talented speedster Kuldeep Sen as the replacement for the injured left-arm pacer Yash Dayal. Sen was impressive during the last IPL season, with the Royals. Dayal’s lower back issue has ruled him out of the three-match series. Shahbaz and Kuldeep, who were named in the three-match ODI squad against New Zealand would now travel directly to Bangladesh.
"Dayal has a lower back issue and is ruled out of the series while Jadeja is yet to recover from his knee injury and will continue to be under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team," BCCI said in a press release.
The selectors also announced the squad for the two-match series against Bangladesh A, rewarding the likes of Atit Sheth, Rohan Kunnummal, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Yash Dhull and Tilak Varma with a call-up. Veterans such as Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav too are part of the setup, as India look to claw their way back in the World Test Championship table.
