Pakistan's legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi has found a new franchise home in Nepal's Everest Premier League franchise Kathmandu Kings XI and will reunite with Sandeep Lamichhane as team-mates once again. The duo were earlier the part of an ICC World XI team that took on world champions West Indies in a hurricane relief exhibition match at Lord's.
"Welcome on board with Kathmandu Kings XI. All the boys are really excited to see you here on the field. And I personally know you are going to have a great time during your visit to Nepal. Can't wait to see you joining the team," Lamichhane told Afridi in a video message at the launch of the team's campaign.
Lamichhane is back in Nepal after ECB failed to grant him the work visa required to play in England. He was already in quarantine but suddenly was told to leave the country as his visa was found to be invalid. Now he will be partaking in the Everest Premier League after having played against Afridi in the Afghanistan Premier League and Pakistan Super League.
"This will be my first visit to Kathmandu. I am very excited and looking forward to visiting," Afridi said.
