Shakib and Mustafizur join Bangladesh bio-bubble after quarantine relaxation
NEWSIPL returnees Shakib al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman joined the Bangladesh team bio-bubble ahead of the series against Sri Lanka
Bangladesh's Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 duo Shakib al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman on Tuesday joined the national team's bio-bubble for the Sri Lanka limited-overs series after the government eased their 14-day strict quarantine rule.
Bangladesh returned to practice after Eid in the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Shakib and Mustafizur had returned home from India on May 6 after the IPL that was postponed due to multiple Covid-19 cases inside its bio-bubble.
Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin said that the team is not worried about the lack of preparation time for Shakib and Mustafizur
"I don't think they have been away from cricket for a long time as they have taken part in the IPL. They were indeed in quarantine but with the amount of experience they have, they won't take time to get back into business. They are going to take part in the practice game and I hope it will be sufficient for them along with the few days they will have for skill training," he told Cricbuzz.
The Sri Lankan team arrived in the Dhaka on May 16 and are set to begin practice on Wednesday after completing their three-day quarantine in a city hotel.
The series consists of three ODIs on May 23, 25 and 28.
