Star allrounder Shakib al Hasan has returned to Bangladesh's Test side for the first Test against Sri Lanka starting on May 15. The allrounder had missed the Test series against South Africa due to personal reasons.
Bangladesh have also named pacer Shoriful Islam for the Test alongside uncapped Rejaur Rahman Raja in their 16-player squad. There was no place for injured duo Taskin Ahmed and Shadman Islam were sidelined.
Islam will undergo a fitness test as he missed the South Africa series due to an ankle injury. According to Bangladesh Cricket Board chief selector Minhajul Abedin the injuries sustained by Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz during the Dhaka Premier League are minor.
"(Mushfiqur and Mehidy's injuries) is nothing serious, they will be in the Test side. Shadman will play the practice match (against Sri Lanka). Raja was in the Test side once, so he comes back because we have injury concerns in the pace department," Abedin said.
The first of the two-match Test series will begin on May 15 in Chattogram. The second Test will be played in Dhaka from May 23.
