Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have announced Litton Das as the skipper of the Bangladesh side in the one-off Test against Afghanistan starting on June 14 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. The decision came after Shakib's finger injury ruled him out for at least six weeks during the ODI series against Ireland in Chelmsford last month.
Pacer Taskin Ahmed has returned to the squad after being ruled out of the Ireland Test due to a side strain. Zakir Hasan has also made a comeback after missing the Test in April.
The impressive opener, who scored a stunning century against India last year, suffered a thumb injury after being picked in the ODI squad for the first time in March. The selectors have rewarded Shahdat Hossain as well who recently made two half-centuries in as many unofficial Tests against West Indies A.
Bangladesh will be hosting Afghanistan in two phases. In June, both sides will be playing a one-off Test, followed by Afghanistan returning to Bangladesh once again for three ODIs and two T20Is in July.
