NEWSAshwell Prince has quit as Bangladesh's batting coach coach with immediate effect due to personal reasons, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed on Wednesday.
"He (Ashwell) has resigned and we have received his resignation letter," Chowdhury told Cricbuzz.
The former South African batter joined the team last year on a temporary basis, but received a contract extension from the BCB which was set to run till the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
"He has cited family reasons for his decision," BCB's cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus told ESPNCricinfo on Wednesday.
Prince's resignation comes a month after the appointment of former Bangladesh head coach Jamie Siddons as the batting consultant.
Shakib to miss South Africa Tests
Star allrounder Shakib al Hasan will be available for the three-match ODI series in South Africa from March 18-23 but has not confirmed his availability for the two Tests from March 31 to April 12 as it would clash with the start of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 beginning from the last week of March.
"Shakib will certainly play the ODIs against South Africa and though he did not say anything regarding his availability for the Test series, he informed that he will be available for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka," Yunus told Cricbuzz on Wednesday.
BCB had earlier mentioned that their players will miss the final stretch of IPL 2022 in order to prepare for the Test series against Sri Lanka from May 8-23.
