Shamsi, Nortje replace Thushara, Hasaranga at SKNP in CPL 2024

The Sri Lankan duo sustained injuries during the recently concluded white-ball series against India at home

South African duo Tabraiz Shamsi and Anrich Nortje have been named as replacements for Sri Lanka's Nuwan Thushara and Wanindu Hasaranga respectively by St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (SKNP) for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024. Both Hasaranga and Thushara suffered injuries during the recently concluded white-ball series against India.

While Thushara was out of the entire tour due to a finger injury, Hasaranga played three T20 Internationals (T20I) and one One-Day International (ODI) before being ruled out due to a hamstring injury.

While Nortje is yet to make his debut in the CPL, Shamsi has already played 32 games in the tournament, including 27 for the Patriots itself. He has taken 27 wickets for SKNP at an economy rate of 7.06. Nortje and Shamsi will not be the only Proteas men in the Patriots, who have already signed Tristan Stubbs.

CPL 2024 will kick-off on August 29 (August 30 in India). SKNP will play the tournament opener against the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots squad for CPL 2024:

Kyle Mayers, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rilee Rossouw, Evin Lewis, Sherfane Rutherford, Sikandar Raza, Anrich Nortje, Andre Fletcher, Tristan Stubbs, Dominic Drakes, Mikyle Louis, Odean Smith, Joshua da Silva, Veerasammy Permaul, Ryan John, Ashmead Nedd, Johann Layne
