For further strengthening of their coaching staff, Delhi Capitals have announced the appointment of Shane Watson as an assistant coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Watson will join the likes of Pravin Amre and Ajit Agarkar, who are also assistant coaches in the Delhi Capitals’ setup.
Australian all-rounder James Hopes continues to be Delhi’s bowling coach, as World Cup-winning skipper Ricky Ponting will return as the head coach of the Rishabh Pant-led side. The 40-year-old Watson, in a statement, showed his excitement of working under Ponting’s tutelage.
"The IPL, the best T20 tournament in the world. I've got incredible memories as a player, first of all with Rajasthan Royals winning it in 2008, led by the incredible man Shane Warne, RCB and then CSK," Watson said in a statement issued by DC.

"I've got incredible memories as a player, and now coaching opportunities. It's come to be able to work under the great Ricky Ponting. He was an amazing leader as a captain, and now to be able to coach under him.
