Shaun Tait Appointed As Bangladesh’s Fast Bowling Coach

Tait’s contract will run until November 2027, which means he will be with Bangladesh until the next ODI World Cup at least

Shaun Tait, the former Australian fast bowler and Pakistan bowling coach, has been appointed as the fast bowling coach of the Bangladesh senior men’s team. His contract will run till November 2027, and understandably, he’ll be working with the Bangladeshi side until the 2027 ODI World Cup at least.

Tait, who has a lot of experience as a coach in the subcontinent, having worked in Pakistan, replaced Andre Adams, who was looking after Bangladesh’s talented fast bowling group since March 2024. Bangladesh have a busy schedule ahead in the summer with all three formats being played.

As quoted by ESPNCricinfo, Tait said that he’s excited to work with Bangladesh’s fast bowling group and coach Phil Simmons.

"It's a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team right now, a bit of a new era if you like," Tait said.

"It's been spoken about many times recently - the young talent with the fast bowlers - which is great. This is international cricket, not a development team, and everyone expects the talent to bring results, which is very much my focus with the fast-bowling group and most importantly, getting more wins for the team. To have the opportunity to work with [head coach] Phil Simmons is equally as exciting, and I'm looking forward to the journey ahead."

Tait is not unfamiliar with Bangladesh cricket, as he has worked as the head coach of the BPL side Chattogram Kings last season. The former Australian pacer has overall played 59 times for his national side, with his best moments being part of the ODI World Cup-winning squad in 2007.
