Shikha Pandey became the first ever Indian cricketer to be a part of the Super Smash, New Zealand’s premier T20 domestic tournament. She was signed by the Canterbury Magicians (CM) Women’s team on December 26 (Thursday) for the 2024-25 edition of the Women’s Super Smash.
The Indian pacer might make her debut on December 27 (Friday) when the Magicians play Otago Sparks in their season opener at the Molyneux Park, Alexandra.
“Indian cricketer Shikha Pandey is SIGNED with our Canterbury Magicians for our 2024/25 Super Smash campaign! We are super excited to see her in action over the next while, this is something you won’t want to miss out on seeing!,” Canterbury wrote in their Facebook post.
Before signing for the Smash, Pandey, 35, had also signed her maiden Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) contract with Brisbane Heat Women, where she performed decently well. So far, the right-arm pacer has played 65 WT20Is, 55 WODIS and three Women’s Tests for the Indian team.
She picked up 12 wickets in 12 matches in the WBBL as Heat finished runners-up. Pandey was part of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) for the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) as well.
