NEWSFormer Indian opener Shiv Sundar Das has been appointed as the Interim Batting coach of the Indian Women's team for the England tour, with Abhay Sharma taking care of the fielding side of things.
Das, who has featured in played 23 Tests and 4 ODIs for India, has been very active on the cricketing circuit as a coach, having associated with NCA and Odisha Cricket team in the last few years. Ramesh Powar will take care of the bowling department, thus no bowling coach has been named for the series.
Das, whose double century against Essex in England is still fresh in mind, holds great credentials as a player too and is a respected name among many players who have benefitted from his expertise at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
However, this will be a permanent assignment, with the national team selectors set to invite applications for a full-time role for the subsequent series.
