Shreyas Iyer, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain, finally broke the jinx with a 33-ball half-century at his home ground against the Delhi Capitals on May 24 (Saturday).
The half-century came at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, which is a makeshift home venue for the Punjab side, as the match is a re-match of the Dharamsala game, which was abandoned in between during the India-Pakistan border tensions.
Prior to this game in Jaipur, Iyer’s scores at home in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 read - 45, 6, 0, 9 and 10. Thus far, Iyer has smashed 488 runs in the league, averaging 37.38, striking at a stellar 170.52, with four fifties. The right-hander scored five fours and two sixes, and was looking to up his ante before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav.
Thanks to the fifty from Iyer, Punjab managed to get to 206/8 as Marcus Stoinis smashed a 16-ball 44.
