Punjab Kings have been hit with bad news as star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of the IPL 2025 season, on April 30 (Thursday). PBKS’ skipper Shreyas Iyer confirmed at the toss before their clash against Chennai Super Kings that the all-rounder won’t take any further part in the season.
“Unfortunate that he's got a fractured finger (Maxwell). We haven't decided on a replacement so far,” Iyer confirmed at the toss.
Maxwell hasn’t had the best of seasons this year, with just 48 runs in the entire season, averaging eight, with a strike rate of 97.95. The all-rounder also struck four times with the ball, bowling well at an economy of 8.46.
However, PBKS have a lot of ammunition in the shed, with all-rounders like Azmatullah Omarzai, Aaron Hardie, Marco Jansen, and Marcus Stoinis, meaning that they don’t really have to look out for a replacement. It is the second blow for PBKS this year after Lockie Ferguson was earlier ruled out with an injury, as they are yet to name any replacements.
Maxwell, however, is still with the team and was spotted in the dressing room during the clash against CSK.
