The List A encounter between India A and Australia A, which was supposed to happen yesterday, September 30, in Kanpur, was moved to October 1 due to rain. India A batters made full use of the opportunity.
Batting first, the opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh batted in dominant fashion and scored with ease, hitting boundaries all over the park. Prabhsimran scored 56 off just 53 deliveries, but Arya went on to add 101 to his name in just 84 deliveries. Both added 135 in just 20.3 overs for the first wicket.
With the platform set for him to explode, skipper Shreyas Iyer stepped out to bat at number three and continued from where Prabhsimran left, smashing 12 fours and four sixes to bring up his 15th List A hundred. He’s averaging 48.7 with a strike rate of 98.89 in the format now. He also averages 48.2 at a strike rate of 100 in ODIs as well.
The next two batters to come, Riyan Parag and Ayush Badoni, both played swashbuckling knocks as well, with Parag scoring 67 in just 42 deliveries, and Badoni adding 50 in 27. At the end, India A crossed 400 with ease and ended up with 413/6.
At the time of writing this report, Australia A are struggling at 218/8 in 29.2 overs.
With such a performance, the likes of Arya and Parag have certainly thrown in their hat for the senior team selection. India are due to play a three-match ODI series in Australia later this month.
