Shreyas Iyer RETURNS But As India A’s Captain For Australia Series

Iyer will captain a strong India A squad for the upcoming series against Australia

Finally, Shreyas Iyer marks a return for himself in the Indian red-ball setup but for India A, on September 6 (Saturday). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match multi-day series against Australia.

Iyer captains a star-studded ‘A’ side, which has Test regulars such as Nitish Kumar Reddy, Prasidh Krishan, Dhruv Jurel and Sai Sudharsan. Jurel will be the vice-captain, and the first-choice wicketkeeper in the setup, with Narayan Jagadeesan serving as his understudy, in what could be a similar arrangement for the home Test series.

Ayush Badoni finds himself a place amidst such stellar form, and so does Harsh Dubey, who was the standout bowler from last year’s Ranji Trophy season. The series kicks off on September 16, 2025, and the second multi-day will commence on September 23, 2025. Both matches will take place in Lucknow.

KL Rahul and Siraj’s inclusion in the ‘A’ squad will be for the second match alone.
