Silverwood to "leave it late" on Stokes decision for T20 World Cup

England are under tremendous pressure to level the series against India after losing the Oval Test by a huge margin

As England set to announce their squad for the T20 World Cup on Thursday, England head coach Chris Silverwood said on Monday that he will be putting "no pressure" on Ben Stokes to participate at this year's mega event. Stokes is nursing an injury to his index finger and has also taken a break due to his mental health break. However, Silverwood added that he would be "revisiting the decision" shortly but will not be putting pressure on him.

"I haven't spoken to him as yet. I want to give him as much space as possible. There are people talking to him outside of me but it is something we will be revisiting shortly. I will not be putting pressure on him or rushing him," Silverwood said.

"First and foremost my only concern is for him and to make sure he's okay," he said. "That's the starting point and the rest of the questions will come but first and foremost I need to make sure he is okay and that is my primary concern."

England are under tremendous pressure to level the series against India after losing the Oval Test by a huge margin. The series now moves to Manchester where India will try to secure their first series win on England soil in 14 years.
