Katich quits as SRH assistant coach following disagreement over IPL auction strategy: Reports

The former Australia batter quits with just a little over a month to go for the start of the IPL 2022 season

Former Australia batter Simon Katich has quit as the assistant coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with just over a month left for the start for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, according to a report on ANI.

It is believed that Katich and the team management were not on the same page on the pre-auction plans and also with the way the team was being managed. After a bottom-placed finish last season, Trevor Bayliss and Brad Haddin too have left their roles, while David Warner was sacked as skipper and dropped from the team in the middle of last season.

The franchise is yet to make a formal announcement.

Katich, who has Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach last season left his role mid-way and did not return for the second phase of the tournament played in UAE. Mike Hesson as a result had to double-up as the head coach of the side.

The franchise shelled out big money for the likes of Washington Sundar (INR 8.75 crore), Nicholas Pooran (INR 10.75 crore), and Rahul Tripathi (INR 8.5 crore) among other buys like Aiden Markram and Marco Jansen.
