Mohammed Siraj has been a different beast altogether in the first four matches for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He not only recorded his best IPL figures ever, by taking 4/17 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad on April 6 but also became the 12th Indian pacer to reach 100 IPL wickets.
Siraj has taken eight wickets in the powerplay, the most for any bowler this season. But it is not just Siraj alone that is doing the damage. Prasidh Krishna has also revamped himself, making a comeback to the richest league after a gap of three years, having last played in the tournament in 2022.
The two have played together since the start of the season, but it was against the Mumbai Indians (MI) that they clicked, which was also their second game. In that game, Prasidh led from the front and took 2/18 in his four overs, while Siraj took two as well, going for 31 in his four overs and getting the important wicket of Rohit Sharma.
Against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the two bowled eight overs between them, conceding only 45 runs and taking four wickets. They changed the game completely.
However, in this game, they peaked. In their eight overs, the duo managed six wickets and gave away only 42 runs. That's why GT were able to restrict Hyderabad to only 152 in their 20 overs.
If you take these two together in the last three matches, they have bowled 24 overs, gone for 139 runs, which is at 5.8 runs per over, and taken 14 wickets at an unbelievable average of 9.9.
At the start of the season, if anyone had said that Prasidh, with an IPL career average of 33 and an economy rate of 8.8 and Siraj, with an average of 28 and an economy rate of 8.6, would be the heroes of the Titans, it would be hard to believe.
Now, that is a reality; one can safely say that Siraj plus Prasidh equals success for GT in IPL 2025.
