Great news for India as Smriti Mandhana has risen to No.1 on the Women’s ODI batters’ rankings, on June 17 (Tuesday), ahead of the 50-over showpiece event later this year. Mandhana has been at her consistent best over the past two years, amassing 1260 runs, averaging 60.
No other batter in WODIs has scored as many runs as Mandhana over the past two years, which is the reason why she’s back at No.1 after six years. On the other hand, South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt dropped down to tied-second, after losing 17 rating points, joining England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt.
England’s wicketkeeper batter Amy Jones has made the rise, jumping to the fourth spot, on the back of an eventful last three months, where she scored multiple centuries. Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry rounds out the top five batters’ rankings.
Despite being on a mental-health break, England’s left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone is still ruling the roost as the best-ranked ODI bowler. The Australian pair of Ashleigh Gardner and Megan Schutt stand second and third at the moment.
