There’s a new number one ranked batter in ODI cricket, and it’s none other than South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt on the back of her extraordinary 2025 Women’s World Cup campaign.
Wolvaardt finished the World Cup with 571 runs to her name, setting a new all-time record for the most runs scored in a single World Cup edition. She hammered 169 in the semi-final against England and struck another century in the final against India, almost single-handedly delivering her country the elusive title.
On the back of this ludicrous run, the 26-year-old is the new number one ranked batter as she’s dethroned India’s Smriti Mandhana. Mandhana herself had a pretty good World Cup, finishing as the second-highest run-getter with 434 runs but Wolvaardt’s extraordinary campaign sees her jump two spots to first.
The other big mover in the top ten is India’s Jemimah Rodrigues, who jumps nine spots to move to 10th spot. The right-hander did not fire in the final but played one of the greatest knocks in history in the semi-final against Australia, crafting a stunning ton to help India pull off the highest successful chase in Women’s ODI history. Mandhana, Rodrigues, and Harmanpreet Kaur (14) are the only Indians in the Top 20.
In terms of bowlers, Deepti Sharma (5) is the only Indian bowler in the Top 10. England’s Sophie Ecclestone continues to be the number one ranked bowler while South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp has jumped two places to become the second-ranked bowler in the world. Australia’s leggie Alana King completes the top three.
In terms of all-rounders, Deepti (4) once again is the only Indian in the Top 10. Ashleigh Gardner is the top-ranked all-rounder, while Kapp is second here as well.
