South Africa named six uncapped players in their 12-man squad for the first One-Day International (ODI) in the Pakistan tri-series against New Zealand on February 10 (Monday) in Lahore, Cricket South Africa (CSA), announced on February 5 (Wednesday).
Temba Bavuma will lead the squad, and more players will be added following the SA20 Eliminator between Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) and Joburg Super Kings (JSK), which will take place later today.
The six uncapped players include Matthew batters Breetzke, Meeka-eel Prince, Gideon Peters, along with bowlers Eathan Bosch and Senuran Muthusamy. All-rounder Mihlali Mpongwana, who was part of the Proteas squad for the ODI World Cup in 2023, has also received a call-up.
In a further boost for South Africa, Gerald Coetzee returns to the squad after recovering from a hamstring strain. Senior players Keshav Maharaj and Heinrich Klaasen will travel to Karachi on February 9, ahead of their second game against Pakistan, which will be played on February 12.
The squad for the remainder of the tri-series will be announced on February 9.
Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, and Rassie van der Dussen, who are part of the Champions Trophy 2025 squad, will miss the tri-series as they will depart for Pakistan only on February 14 - a week before their opening match against Afghanistan in Karachi.
