In a gripping semifinal of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025‑26 in Doha, Bangladesh A edged out the star-studded India A by the finest of margins via a Super Over after both teams finished on 194 for 6 from their allotted 20 overs.
Batting first, Bangladesh A put together a strong total of 194/6, powered by an explosive start and a fierce finish. They raced to 49 for 1 in the power-play thanks to positive intent, before the Indian bowlers briefly stalled the momentum. However, Bangladesh surged in the closing overs, scoring 50 runs in the last two overs and ending on 194/6 after a flurry of big hits.
India A grabbed the initiative early, with their openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Priyansh Arya adding 53 in just 3.4 overs. But as the required rate climbed, Bangladesh’s bowlers applied pressure and kept the required run rate hovering around the 10-12 runs/over mark.
With just two overs to go, India still appeared in the hunt, but a brilliant penultimate over defence by Bangladesh’s Ripon Mondol set the stage for the drama to extend by bowling six consecutive yorkers and not allowing boundaries. In the last over, despite needing 16 from six, India managed to scrape through, with three coming off the final ball due to a comical misfield and badly timed throw that tied the match and forced the Super Over.
The Super Over then delivered breathtaking theatre. India A batted first and scored nothing as two wickets fell off the first two deliveries, courtesy Ripon Mondol. It effectively handed India no wiggle room.
Bangladesh responded, needing just one run. Their first ball saw the batter caught at long-on, raising the tension; the second ball then yielded a wide down the leg-side, bowled by India’s Suyash Sharma, delivering Bangladesh the winning run.
With losses against Pakistan Shaheens in the group stages and now a semi-final loss against Bangladesh, India's IPL Stars couldn't exactly light up the Doha sky with their skills.
