SRH Announces Indian Speedster As James Franklin's Replacement
The 2024 IPL finalists have named Varun Aaron as their new bowling coach
The 2024 IPL finalists, Sunrisers Hyderabad, named former Indian pacer Varun Aaron as their new bowling coach, on July 14 (Monday). New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin, who spent two years as the bowling coach, will no longer continue in his role for the franchise.
Earlier this year, Aaron hung up his boots from all forms of cricket, having last played for Jharkhand in January 2025, where he finished with figures of 2/29 against Goa. The speedster, since, has been part of the commentary panel during IPL 2025.
During his international career, the 35-year-old played 18 matches for India, including nine in the longest format, averaging 52.61 with the ball. However, his numbers were far better in the ODI format, with an average of 38.09.
After reaching the final in 2024, SRH severely underperformed in IPL 2025, finishing sixth, missing out on qualification because of their poor start.
