Liam Livingstone produced yet another all-round performance to fire Birmingham Phoenix to a commanding seven-wicket win over London Spirit in Match 18 of The Hundred 2025 at Edgbaston on August 17 (Sunday).
The spin-bowling all-rounder, who was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)'s IPL 2025-winning squad, once again proved his match-winning credentials. With the ball, he struck big blows by dismissing David Warner and Ollie Pope, returning figures of 2/26 from his 20 deliveries.
Chasing a modest target of 127, Livingstone walked in at No.4 and turned the game into a spectacle. He hammered 45* off just 20 balls, smashing five sixes to wrap up the chase with 35 balls to spare. Notably, Phoenix’s only two wins this season have both come courtesy of Player of the Match performances from Livingstone.
London Spirit, meanwhile, relied on their star overseas pair of David Warner and Kane Williamson, both of whom once lit up the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). But neither could make a telling impact. Warner scratched his way to 9 off 12 before falling to Livingstone, while Williamson managed 33 off 29 without ever shifting gears.
With this innings, Livingstone strengthened his grip at the top of the run-scoring charts in The Hundred 2025. He now has 211 runs at an average of 70.33 and a strike rate of 166.14, along with four wickets at 21.25.
