In Qualifier 1 of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, pacer Simarjeet Singh stole the show with a five-wicket haul to bowl East Delhi Riders (EDR) for just 90. He finished with figures of 5/23 in his three overs as the opposition was bowled out in just 14.5 overs.
The Central Delhi Kings (CDK) fast bowler got rid of the openers Hardik Sharma and Arpit Rana for four-ball ducks and then returned to get rid of Anuj Rawat (23), Mayank Rawat (6) and Navdeep Saini (11).
Simarjeet, who played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for INR 1.5 crore ahead of the 2025 season. The 27-year-old from Delhi did not have a particularly good season with his new team as he picked up just two wickets in four matches.
Overall, Simarjeet has 11 wickets from 14 matches in the tournament since making his debut in 2022.
He is now the third-highest wicket-taker in DPL 2025, with 18 scalps in 10 matches, and is currently the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament. A win for CDK in this match will send them directly to the final.
