SRH vs MI: Players Wear Black Armbands To Mourn The Victims Of Pahalgam Attacks
There would also be no cheerleaders or fireworks during the game in Hyderabad
Players of both the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Mumbai Indians are playing the 41st game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 by wearing black armbands to express condolences for the victims of the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22.
As per the latest reports, more than 25 individuals have lost their lives in the attack, which happened in the Anantnag district of Jammu & Kashmir, where a group of terrorists opened fire at innocent tourists.
The BCCI has also mandated that the game will not feature cheerleaders or fireworks, and a condolence message will be sent out from the board’s side during the game. Both skippers paid their respects to the victims and their families at the toss.
“I would like to firstly pass my condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack. As a team and a franchise, we condemn any such attacks,” MI skipper Hardik Pandya said at the toss. Meanwhile, SRH skipper Pat Cummins said, “It has been heartbreaking for us as well, our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
At the toss, MI won, and Pandya had no qualms in bowling first on the track, which made SRH cross 200 easily. They also made one change, bringing in Vignesh Puthur for Ashwani Kumar. Meanwhile, SRH brought in Jaydev Unadkat and moved Mohammed Shami to the impact substitute list.
